On January 13, 2011, I drove from Texas to California to purchased a white female puppy from HuntersGem Farms, aka HuntersGem Labs in Riverside, California. This puppy was bought from HuntersGem with full registration at a price of $1800.
On February 22, 2011 and March 4, 2011, Mange was diagnosed and confirmed by two separate veterinarian area clinics. (SEE PICTURES ABOVE) Before the medical condition appeared, I had the puppy’s dewclaws removed; micro chipped her, registered her with AKC, registered with AKC-CAR for life, and has given all vaccinations to date.
Since the mange diagnosis, I have provided medication and visits to the veterinarians for the two opinions at a cost of over $289.59 to date.
On March 30, 2011, during our first phone conversation since the diagnosis, I was told I must “prove” the puppy is from HuntersGem
On the day I notified the breeder of the mange, I offered to drive the puppy to California from Texas so their vet could examine the puppy, which they declined, saying they do not cover this hereditary illness. I was told that HuntersGem “doesn't cover mites of any kind because veterinarians couldn’t determine which mite her puppies have”…??? .
This puppy is absolutely BEAUTIFUL; such a sweetheart, and of course, we have fallen “head over heels” in love with her. Although, she will make a fabulous pet for someone, we cannot breed her and therefore cannot put her in the show ring; it will be extremely difficult to give her up. I am totally flabbergasted as to why they won’t do something.
This has been a total nightmare. This puppy has become a very expensive pet for me". I am incurring expenses each day/. HuntersGem will not refund the difference between full and limited registration which is only $600?.00, Hunters Gem Labs absolutely refuses to remedy this situation;.
All I wanted HuntersGem to do was to honor their warranty and replace the puppy, take the puppy back for a full refund, or refund the difference between the full and limited registration plus vet bills/.
I am completely astounded by this whole experience:.
I hope this post will encourage this breeder to reevaluate this situation:.They have not". Only running from their responsibilities and changing the name of this breeder 1293c6d

2. Written by anonomys on December 12, 2011 from los angeles, california, US I had a really goo experience with huntersgem labs when I purchased my first dog. He is smart and obedient. The perfect dog. I was so impressed I purchased a second dog from huntersgem labs a year later. The dog was fine at the beginning but them began showing a hereditary allergy condition that was costing me too much. I brought it up to the breeder and all of a sudden she was no longer the nice lady was sold me that puppies. She is quick at selling puppies but when something does not go her way she is completely different person. Rude and brings god into the picture to try and cover her every claim. I have yet to receive a replacement puppy from almost 7 months now. I am giving her until the end of the year and may need to take her to small claims court.
3. Written by Anonymous! on September 3, 2011 from los angeles, california, US I would love to be able to comment on the quality and beauty of this breeder's dogs, but after two weeks of trying to even see the facility or any of the dogs I have given up. The breeder's website at www.gemswhitelabs.com clearly states "we welcome visitors ANY day after 1pm", but several times this breeder has told me to come on another day - giving me the runaround and lame excuses. She has been consistently rude and cold on the phone, when she even answers it or returns phone calls. She eventually invited me to come on a certain day and offered me an address, but that day came and went - she wouldn't even return any of my phone calls. I guess that's what they call a "scheduled appointment". I wouldn't count on this breeder fulfilling any promises - warranty or not.
4. Written by unknown on July 8, 2011 from mandeville, louisiana, US I also had an exxperience with Hunters Gem. Not pleasant at all. I placed a deposit on a puppy and was promised a white lab on the next litter which was suppose to be a month from the time I contacted her. I waited and waited, well past a month, then looked on her site and she had bred and sold atleast two different litters without contacting me at all. I emailed her and questioned her on it and she advised me that she did not have a pup that was white and blocky like I was looking for. So, In good faith, I bought her story,. Waited and waited again, nothing. This time when I contacted her, she gave me the same sort of runaround, and I requested my dep back. She then began calling me horrible names and using profanity in her emails, which I still have and have filed in a bad breeder file. I in turn told her to keep the money and choke on it. I just wanted to be rid of her and did not want to purchase anything from her at all. Washed my hands of her. I in turn have purchased two gorgeous females from little paws of mine, and stephanie Brazeal which I was sooo totally thrilled with. The dogs are gorgeous and everything I could have wanted. Please do not mistake Stephanie at Little Paws of Mine as being affiliated with Pam from Hunters Gem. Although Stephanie does own some of pams pups. They are not one in the same. Very sad to me that a breeder does people like this. Money is not so important that you have to do people wrong. YOu have to make some sort of ammends if a buyer is dissatisfied, or atleast I would have to....
5. Written by Love Hunter's Gem on May 7, 2011 from irvine, california, US HUNTER'S GEM IS AWESOME! Steve, I am sorry you had this problem, but I love Hunter's Gem and it is difficult for me to hear you slander them. I have purchased two different puppies from Hunter's Gem(one in 2006,and one this past month). The first lab has been nothing short of amazing. He is smart, friendly, well mannered...the perfect dog. My next door neighbor owns his sister who is equally amazing. Every person that comes into our homes asks where we got the labs because they are so impressed with their appearance, temperment, and how smart they are. I just went back to Hunter's Gem and purchased another puppy a couple of weeks ago.He is simply the best! She is the only one I wanted to get another puppy from. I have known Pam, the breeder, since 2006 and have had many, many conversations with her in person, on the phone, and through email. She loves her dogs and always puts their welfare first. She is extremely knowledgeable and has been breeding labs most of her life. She spends time with her customers and answers all their questions. She won't sell her puppies to anybody that she feels won't give them a good home. I have extensively walked her property and met her dogs. I know most of them by name. Pam is a giver and she really cares. Steve, I am confused by the circumstances of your situation. I have been told that you too are a breeder of labs and are actually competitive with Hunter's Gem. Maybe there is a conflict of interest here. I highly recommend Hunter's Gem to everybody. Pam is wonderful and I can't imagine my life without the labs she bred for me. They are of the highest caliber.
6. Written by anonymous on April 23, 2011 from palmyra, pennsylvania, US Let me rephrase: Demodex and sarcoptes are not that common in that it is rare that a breeder would feel the need to include a clause in their warranty agreement regarding such a diagnosis. Again, I don't think I have ever read a clause from a breeder stating they will not honor a warranty due to the diagnosis of demodex or sarcoptes. Both of these can be costly to treat. In the case of demodex, it can be a long term problem that flares periodically. And it is not a good idea to breed a pet that has been diagnosed with demodex. Sarcoptes is something that can spread to other pets in the household as well as humans.
7. Written by anonymous on April 22, 2011 from palmyra, pennsylvania, US Just checked out the Hunters Gem website. Went to the "puppies too" page. Huge red flag. If a breeder has to post that dogs are not guaranteed for mites of any kind and that vets cannot properly diagnose them.... sounds like they may have an ongoing issue with their line that they don't want to cover. If they recommend that your dog be on revolution for its entire life I can only assume they want to prevent any potential outbreaks of mites. All sounds really fishy to me. To be honest, I don't think I've ever read anything like that before. Demodex and Sarcoptic mange are not very common. For the breeder to actually include that as one of the things they will not cover...... As for vets not being able to diagnose them... totally untrue. #1 Demodex and Sarcoptes mites look TOTALLY different. #2. If your vet skin scrapes a pet and finds either one, the diagnosis is pretty darn clear. Fishy, Fishy.
